Kingsport Antique and Rod Club:
We are the oldest car club in Kingsport, TN. In 2009 we celebrated
our 35th Anniversary. We are a non-profit organization.
Our membership generally averages around 70 members. Club
members' cars include antiques, street rods, 50's and
60's mild customs and classics. You do not have to actually
own a car to be a member, although most are expecting
to own or build a rod, custom, etc. We meet once a month,
on the second Thursday, at Golden Corral Restaurant on
Eastman Rd. Most members eat at around 6:30 p.m., and
the meeting starts as soon as the meal is finished. After
the meeting we move to the parking lot for lengthy bs'ing,
and bench rod building.
Our major activities each year are our annual Benefit Cruise-In
and Wilderness Trail Rod Run. The Cruise-In is held on
Friday evening at the Kingsport Town Center at the corner
of Fort Henry Drive and Memorial Blvd. in Kingsport ,
TN. It is followed on Saturday by The Wilderness Trail
Rod Run, held on Main Street in Kingsport, TN at the Historic
Train Station. These activities are held during Memorial
Day weekend in May of each year. All donations at the
Benefit Cruise-In, are donated to charity. Those have
been going to the Ronald McDonald House in Johnson City,
TN.
As a club, we try to hold one or two picnics each year, and
usually a cruise to an interesting location.
The clubs major charity is Ronald McDonald House in Johnson
City, TN but he club also donates money to other charities as needs arise.
